Communities

Throughout the year, AMMSA holds various fund-raising initiatives through its District Meetings. These funds are ploughed back into the community. AMMSA is particularly proud of its association with the TEBA Development SCI Project.

TEBA Development SCI Project

The Association of Mine Managers of South Africa (AMMSA) lives by its motto of “With Strength and Integrity” and recognises the important role it plays in the industry as a whole. In line with this, the Association believes in giving back to the community that is the backbone of the industry and recently donated R150 000 to the TEBA Development SCI Project.

The main aim of the SCI project is to assist former mineworkers with spinal cord injuries (SCI) and their families by upgrading their homes and sanitation facilities. Other services include the provision of a water supply, the installation of bathrooms and improved access to their homes. The funds donated by AMMSA have been used by TEBA Development to assist two families through this project.

During December 2012, the TEBA Development team began with construction and upgrades to the home of Mr Paulo Santo and his family. The project included the construction of toilet and bathroom facilities; improving access to the house by widening two doors; the construction of wheelchair ramps and walkways; the installation of a 5000l water tank and guttering; and painting the house.
